I've got a Yamaha amp for my home theatre setup. It's old, but have served me well since I bought it in 2003.
Lately though, it's been giving me problems. When I'm watching a movie, and there's a spike in the audio track, like a gunshot interrupting a dialogue for instance, the amplifier just shuts off and I have to turn it on again.
It's mostly when I'm watching DTS tracks on my Blu-ray. Having the subwoofer turned off and turning the amp's night setting on helps a little. Regular DD tracks are a little better than DD+ or DTS-HD/MA. Turning the volume down helps too. But a lot of Blu-rays don't have DD, and it's gotten to the point where I almost need to use subtitles to follow the dialogue sometimes because the volume is too low.
I've been meaning to replace the thing anyway, but at the moment I don't have money to pay my rent and food, so upgrading my home theatre is out of the question.
Anyone know what the problem could be? A blown fuse maybe?
