American VOICE OVER Idol... any members with golden pipes?

Lots of good stuff, BTW, LOSE the video, it's all about the audio.

How many guys here want to hear a sexy voice on the phone then see some fat girl? Yea...

Don't put video in a VO addition.

Sorry for the RANT :)

Chip... I thought we were having fun as DVXusers here! I LIKE seeing what people look like!

Of course you may have a point that something MAY come of this... for somebody... maybe Rick or Erik... but I thought Erik's VO clip was way cool... all the way around. I found the clear focus in his eyes to be engaging... Hey Erik! Are you single?

Uga... to be honest, I'll bet some people were scared that might not be a FAKE accent... I listened and smiled that "oh crap" smile thinking there's no way in HELL the guy that posts all that clever stuff sounds like that in real life... but then I felt bad for being geographist.

Since you guys gave it a legit go... I figured I'd go back and try a little harder. This is done with a NT1000 plugged directly into a DVX (for convenience, it was handy, and my "studio" is still cement floor and walls.)

I've listened to everybody again... I think Rick may still have top honors... but Mainstreet Productions is pretty close... with Erik behind those two. I kind of wish I had done this with a pole or something for readers to score the VO from each person... but I have given these all some pretty critical listening and I think I've got to be close on my assumptions.

So where's Doc and RX782?

lol. And, I'm only lol'ing because I now know that wasn't a real accent. But, I gotta tell ya, I wasn't sure at first. I was half expecting to hear the Dueling Banjos. Fake Accent aside, you've got a good speaking voice. You should throw up a real one...

PS I understand where you are coming from Chip (DJ's when they are broadcasting live from a 7-11 or wherever, NEVER look like they sound. It's so disappointing...) but I have to agree with Matt. In the spirit of fun, I think it fits here. Plus, I really dug Erik's video. I mean, he wasn't doing anything in it but speaking but it was oddly entertaining.

Ok. Woke up this morning with a really nasty sore throat (I'm assuming it's from allergies, even though I don't normally get them - but pollen count's at 2000 this year, as opposed to 400 normally) and thought my voice sounded kinda cool.

I remembered this thread, and pulled out my Oktava and HVX200. Of course, by the time I got it set up and found a suitable pop filter (paper towel FTW), I'd lost most of the "cool" sound of the sore throat. But I had everything set up, and I figured, why not?

So here goes:

AT&T or Bell labs has also had a really good one for a long time that'll talk in male or female in any accent you want and it's free.

Good for an instructional tech training video but that's about where it ends.

No worries Chip, I'm sure Apple will come out with something for the iPad or new iPhone soon.:2vrolijk_08:

Those voice-apps aren't bad, but they have a ways to go.

To get the best results you need to intentionally misspell words and add periods and/or commas to change the inflection of the narration. Here's a message I left on a fire-fighter buddy's answering machine... it's OT, but mildly amusing.
