Am I on track? Or is it cra**?!

hey, you inspired me to get an dv caddie dolly. how are you mounting your tripod head to it? Do you have issues with it popping off the tracks?

The DV Caddie comes with a 1/4" male fitting on it and a 1/4" to 3/8" male adapter. Most tripod heads have a 3/8" hole, all of mine do, a Sachtler DV-6SB and two Bogens. You just screw the head to the dolly itself or it comes with a little 6" aluminum riser. I like to use the riser for the simple fact that it adds more weight and mass to the moves, making them smoother.

Have not had any issues with the DV Caddie coming off of the track I made. Just use 1/2" PVC and all is good. Home Depot has nice 12" x 72" pieces of finished MDF. Mine is white and it looks decent too, not too homemade. If I was flying, I could easily pack the Caddie and just go to a local Home Depot and pickup some PVC and MDF and make the same thing on location, wouldn't be hard. I wouldn't have my Gary Colemans and Mafers to put it on, but you can easily put this rig in-between two chairs or on a table. The Caddie's wheels are grooved, as long as you have the weight of a camera and the dolly itself, it seems pretty steady and it stays on.

cool, thanks for the tips. It came in this weekend and I've only got to play with it a li ttle bit. My libec head has it's bolt sticking out of the bowl and I can't figure out how to remove the bolt or the 75mm bowl. I may just look into finding a cheap used bogen.
