Am I importing my footage wrong???

i'm trying to import some footage that i exported from FCP that is 640x360 however when i import it into AE i have to manually strecth it out to fit it into the composition and i have set my composition to the same size as the footage.

when i click on the aspect ratio button it strecthes the footage out but also stretches the composition out so the footage still doesn't fill up the comp....what am i doing wrong???
 
Don't change the aspect ratio of the composition. Right click on the footage in the in the project/assets window and go to Interperate Footage and change the ratio there.

It will update the composition.
