check this out: i should preface by saying that this last term has been hell...i have sat and watched the snow pile up while i have been mired in school. its my junior year in college and my grandfather passed away this term as well as I got sick and missed a week of school...so sheet hasn't been going great - i'm sure i'll get my lowest gpa yet this term...whatever

today i went to talk to a prof. about an internship as i am required to do one for school. the prof. is also a guide for a local flyshop that's about 4 blocks from my house - and he's setting up an intership with them and the school...i am an outdoor recreation and tourism major, so a flyfishing intership is right up my alley - i love flyfishing...so he's explaining the program to me and obviously there's a project for the school part... then he goes on to explain that the flyshop will be starting a project directed at conserving the Deschutes Basin watershed, and that they've had state representatives out already to take tours with the guides...now they want to develop media to show to state reps. and congressmen and whatnot to bring the watershed issue to the forefront...

so i tell him about my new dvx, and how i want to shoot as much as i can...so he's all stoked on that...so here we go i guess...hopefully i GET the intership...but if i do its on - they'll teach me more about flyfishing than i could learn in 3-5 years on my own, i'll get to guide all summer long, get pro-deals on flyfishing gear, learn all the ins and outs of the business, AND use my dvx for school, work, and fun all at the same time....oh yea, and the intership is paid...

wish me luck please!!...this could be the sweetest summer yet...
 
Go for it, man! WIsh it works out for you. Make sure you post some footage for us, too! :thumbsup:
 
You are so lucky! I love flyfishing and I spend my summer in Lake Tahoe (don't read too much into that.......I have a contract job there every year).......anyway the guides are gods to me. All I take with me flyfishing is my small JVC camcorder, which stays packed with my flyfishing gear. I hike into an area of the Carson River that is catch and release Native Trout......hauling in the DVX and it's gear is out of the question. So.....yes......I am jealous but very happy for you!

thanks all...needless to say i'm super excited do this...they are the best fly outfit in the area with the best reputation, so i'm just pleased to be associated with them...should be a great experience - and i'll be sure to be posting some pictures of some nasty fish this summer
