Am I Capable?

What is everyone editing 720P footage on?

I have currently a 3.2 GHZ Pentium 4 with 1 GB of RAM, running Avid Xpress HD. Will this work for me? :dankk2:

Edius 4 Broadcast on a 3.2GHz P4D 840EE with 2GB RAM.

Able to handle 3x DVCProHD + 3x DV25 + 1x Uncompressed PCM audio track with color correction, transitions etc. in realtime.

Go Edius Broadcast (not pro)! I have similar specs to you Brandon and I find Avid is a computer hog.

Edius is also very good with the p2 format. I've been mucking around with 1080 60i 24pa and it's damn good. Only thing is the lack of plugins but I'll do all mine in After Effects anyway...

Sell your cat or dog and buy another gig of ram, you will get a MAJOR increase in performance.

I edit 720p almost exclusively using:

AMD 4400+ X2 (2.2ghz Dual Core)
4gb Ram
(2)250gb SATAII Hard Drives in a RAID 0 Array
GeForce 6600gt PCI Express

Raylight 2.02
Sony Vegas 6.0

Dual 2.0Ghz G5 (PPC) with 3.5GB RAM, Final Cut Pro 5.1.2. 2.5TB SATA Raid (capable of 7 streams of DVCPRO HD)...Dell Monitors, Sony PVM14L5 HD monitor, AJA LH.

Delivered two broadcast shows mixing HXV and Varicam footage, working on my third.

Avid Express Pro (on my PC) Avid Media Composer (on my Mac).
Avid Express Pro Version 5.5 or higher - 2 gigs of ram MINIMUM (more is better).
SATA Drives work better than Firewire (but you can use Firewire if you must).
This has been working for about a year.

Excellent! Exactly what I wanted to hear. :dankk2:
