Alternative to DVrack/OnLocation?

I´m looking into a PC Laptop for offloading P2 in the field and checking exposure and color on WF and VS.
Since I edit in FCP, recording capabilitys are not that important (only if there´s would be a way to record DV50 on a PC and edit on a Mac without rerendering...? Can FCP natively edit DV50 AVIs?)
I don´t want to buy into CS4, so sth under 500$ would be perfect...

Any suggestions?
:dankk2:

I searched again for an alernative, but couldn´t find anything...
Since almost 150 readers of this thread didn´t bring up a solution, I guess it´s time to shop for a used DVrack version...

Funny, normaly I bite the bullet for being on the Mac, know it´s vice versa...

Thanks Mark, but I guess my first post was misleading or just in a bad english;)

I´m looking into buying a PC laptop, so I´m in need of a PC program - not a Mac application.

Hence I´m looking for an alternative to DVrack/OnLocation. I know all the capturing apps for Mac, but I just can´t find a standalone app for the PC.

I cannot afford to buy the CS4 package, just to get OnLocation...

won't most nle's work?
Again, I don´t want to buy into another editing system.
Maybe Vegas or edius would fall into my budget, they probably will offer scopes too, but I´d also like to use the Laptop screen as a preview monitor and the capture screen I know from FCP doesn´t cut it...

Actually considering the price of Veescope, I might just get a used MBP or even a PB after all..

I too would like to find an alternative, as DV Rack and Onlocation both use Product Activation, a technology I refuse to support or condone by purchasing them.

I don't even need the waveform or vectorscope -- I just want to capture in HD from my HPX-170. Sadly, I don't know of any other program for the PC that will do this, other than Edius Broadcast.

Can I ask why you don't want to buy into CS4? I'm really excited that OnLocation (DVRack) is now available for the Mac. If we hadn't just ordered a bunch of new hardware, I would have ordered CS4 by now.
