Alternative to a firestore??

Hi folks!

I'm just wondering (have searched the forums) if anyone happens to know of any other alternatives to a Firestore for recording DVX100 footage?

I'm having a bit of a hard time justifying the exorbitant price tag(NZD1200+) for a firestore with such a tiny (cheap) hard drive versus it's impact on workflow.

this won't help, but i use a laptop...and if you've seen the andromeda thread then it won't sound crazy or if you know about DVRack then you'd understand...however i'm really just using premiere elements and capturing. my setup - i start the capture on the laptop then record on the camera. stop the camera then the capture. i'll have the footage on the tape, plus a little extra on the laptop.

and even more on the playback assist - but that's a different story...
