Alternative to 100mm hi hat

THought I would inquire of the brilliant minds at the DVX user DIY section to see
if anyone knows of a lower cost alternative to this:

I want to be able to easily attach my tripod head to a wheelchair for dolly shots,
and this on a bracket would work. Don't like the $150-$200 price though!

I've been looking for something like this but unfortunately every where I find it's still over $100.

I've attached a head to a board, box...all sorts of stuff, but when it comes down to it, if you can, it's best to have a hat.

I've been looking at adapting one of these but i haven had time to decide if i want to "do it right" or "do it quick and dirty"

I have one of them already to try. I can either simply screw a head onto it with a piece of wood or machine the face to receive a bowl on my lathe .... I would need a bigger chuck to do so .... I can't decide

they also have some nylon ones that are less expensive .... either one could be a good base for a DIY adaptation
