Yeah, Nimoy Die Hard doesn't make much sense, and also it doesn't look like a lot of work was put into it...I'm not sure why they put Bowie in the Goodman role in Big Lebowski either. John Belushi seems like the more obvious choice.

Yeah I thought Bowie was weird too. Walter (John Goodman's character) is supposed to be a parody of John Milius, and the whole film is a film noir turned on its head (bathrobe instead of trenchcoat, white russian instead of scotch, stoner instead of private investigator, obsession for the rug instead of anything actually important, Julianne Moore as Femme fatale, Sam Elliot doing the voice over bit etc) and even The Dude is based on an actual person who seems to actually be like that in real life.

So I don't get that at all.

Avatar was funny though. There should be one with Charlton Heston and James Earl Jones in a 70's version of Enemy Mine, or Bruce Lee and Charles Bronson in a 60's version of Shanghai Noon directed by Sergio Leone.

Maybe there could be one of those Die Hard rip-off movies that were so popular in the 90's, but it would be in the Star Trek universe? Die Hard on the Starship Enterprise if you will. Maybe some alien terrorists manage to get on board and use an Emoticator (which is a device that allows them to emotionally manipulate humans) to subdue the crew, except for Spock, who is obviously immune due to his Vulcan party pooperness. So Spock must crawl around in the air ducts to buy some time to formulate a plan to thwart the terrorists and take back the ship. He would sneak around and use that Vulcan nerve pinch move to take out the terrorists one by one.

Yeah, John Wayne could certainly do a good Col. Quaritch. I can pretty clearly hear The Duke spouting some of the more colorful Quaritch lines like:

"These dumb bastards ain't getting the message. Alright, let's turn up the the heat. Switch incendiaries."

"This low gravity'll make you soft. You get soft, Pandora will s**t you out dead with zero warning."

"You are not in Kansas anymore. You are on Pandora, ladies and gentlemen. Respect that fact."

"Out there, beyond that fence, every living thing that crawls, flies or squats in the mud wants to kill you and eat your eyes for jujubes."

I like the Enemy Mine one you suggested. Can you imagine Heston's reaction when James Earl Jones, in full Drac makeup gives birth to a baby alien?

How about Alfred Hitchcock's THE MATRIX?

Neo = Bruce Lee (hey, he knows how to fight, and would have been able to train the other actors)

Trinity = Catherine Deneuve

Morpheus = Sidney Poitier

Agent Smith = Robert Walker (he played Bruno in Hitchcock's Strangers on a Train) -- alternate choice: Adam West

Cypher = Peter Sellers

The Architect = Orson Welles
