Alternate Universe Appliance-style

I found the best site this morning. I thought my dryer had broken yesterday and the thought of buying a new one, well, didnt thrill me. And as a woman, I feel we are easy targets for repairman scams. So I googled "clothes dryer wont blow" out of desperation and I got http://www.applianceblog.com/mainforums/showthread.php?t=3029

What a great site, and it feels so much like this place its scary. Same vBulletin deal I suppose, but somewhere out there, there is a Barry Green of appliance repair coming to the aid and rescue of people like me. After hanging out on that site, I feel like I've been to another dimension in the Twilight Zone.

And my dryer is back in full operation.

Speaking of repairman scams, my partner went to see about getting her vacuum hose fixed on a really old model and when she got there she mentioned that she was going to get the Dyson next week but she wanted this old one for cat litter spills and such. He went on and on about how dysons suck(heh) and the parts are cheaply made blah blah blah. He then said if you are going to spend $600 on a vacuum get a meile instead because bagless vacuums always make a mess when you go to dump them and the parts are easier to get. I was like of course hes going to try to get you to buy a meile because thats what he sells! He doesnt sell any Dysons. I have one and 2 friends have Dysons and we all love them.
I guess its not really a scam as much as its a redirection.
