Hey all,
A friend lent me a CD of explosions made by a "royalty-free unlimited use" company. You can use the explosions all you want but you have to buy the image from them first. This is standard I understand and fair but I can't afford their prices. I have heard that if you alter copyrighted material enough (say 80%) you can claim it as your own work.
Is this true? If so, how do you determine when you've altered the image by 80% or whatnot. Would it be easier for me to try making my own explosion? I live in a city and have no car so it'd be pretty hard. Hence the CD. It's for the climatic shot so I need to figure this out.
Help!
