Alpha not working on export to avi...

Hey. I have a sequence with various clips fading in and out (changing alpha over time). It works fine in prview, and it works fine when i export to compressed avi (cinepak, for example), but when i use no compression on the avi (for my final export), the alpha stops working.. all the cuts are just hard cuts, instead of fades. Does anyone know whats going on here? I've tried disabling all the plugins/effects too but that doesnt help.

I'm using Premiere CS3.

Thanks,
Rich

Thats how ive always done fades... Just keyframe the alpha like I do any other effect over time. I managed to get it working, by randomly changing one of the keyframe rendering settings in the export menu. No i dea why that helped...

But a fade or a dissolve is a "manipulation" of Opacity and alpha has nothing to do with it.

Why do you not use a Cross Dissolve to make the Fade? (quicker easier and has options.)

Sorry - my mistake - I'm an Adobe Flash developer by trade, and in Flash Opacity is called Alpha, I'm just mixing up my language.

he is working on a worl where the terms and disciplines are more "Design" than "Video".

In flash (as I know) threre are not transicions like in premiere, so he has to "make" the disolve manipulating the alpha channel.

Of course, he can make his life easier if just apply "cross disolve" in premiere.
