Proposed in 1992 to revitalize the downtown/Fremont St area, this would have been (literally and figuratively) huge and entirely awesome.

Everything was in place; it would have happened if Paramount's top guy hadn't nixed it at the 11th hour.

Just imagine the view from the McCarran approach.

Star Trek: The Experience didn't last more than 10 years or so, but it's not at all the same thing.

Being so 'untrekish'... this was my first thought on the thread title...
(NOTE: The current USS Enterprise is scheduled for deactivation on Dec. 1, 2012).

I like Trek but this ship was also my first thought. I believe my father served on this as well as 3-4 other carriers. Too bad it is ending but I guess all good things come to their end.

While I agree that would have been awesome... I guess you haven't heard about THIS!

OK for those would wouldn't click "this"... there's a guy who's trying to organize and build a full scale Millennium Falcon... and that project has begun. I heard about it on "Geek Time"... and well... there it is... started.

And in case you didn't think regular individuals can make this stuff happen... watch THIS!

(Father and daughter built full scale Tie Fighter).

I just had a massive nerdgasm. Good start to a Tuesday.

Fun stuff though - always interesting to see what fans will come up with

While cool, not quite the same as a thousand-foot starship. :)

Agreed... plus... I think Star Trek has a higher moral fiber behind it... I gotta' side with Futurama on that one. If they pulled off an actual size Enterprise... The Church of Trek wouldn't be too far behind... I'd probably move there.

if there are not planning to make an elevator that moves both vertically and sideways, it's a simple structure, any carpenter and set designer can make the structure.
