I'm having huge problems (or at least they're huge to me) with Vegas 5, and I hope someone can point me in the right direction.
I have 15 tapes of footage that were on a firewire drive that went down, so I lost all of the footage. Fortunately, the vegas file with an hour and a half of editing already done was in different places, so my edits were safe. Well, I got the firewire replaced, and I've spent the last day and a half recapturing footage by clicking on the avi files in the media pool and choosing "recapture." Well, the problem I've run into is that it will start capturing the footage, but will rename it. Instead of Tape 13 - Clip 5 (the original name), now I have clip 13 (that's it, no tape name or anything). So, the footage is in the media pool, but it's under a different name and the timeline isn't referencing it. Instead, the avi file with the original name is only 00:00:00;01 of footage instead of, say, 00:13:10;05 of footage. I hope this is making sense. Is there any way to redirect the reference to the clips with actual footage in it?
Please help. I was 99 percent done with this project before my firewire went down and I'm trying to finish it before I leave town for Europe for a month. Unfortunately, ProMax (the firewire company) took two and a half weeks to get a replacement drive back to me instead of the promised 48 hours (they promise everyone this, not just me. It's on their website). So, I'm almost three weeks behind.
