Re: Allstar cast

-Kurt Russell(Kurt will always be the all-american hero!!)
-Val Kilmer
-Bruce Willis
-Nicole Kidman(this was hard; not too many actresses I can think of who can act, has the looks, presence, and actually equates money in the bank. . .well other than Michelle Pfeiffer, but Hudson picked her already ;))
-The Rock(unlike Vin D, The Rock is actually believable as a bad-ass, speaks in english, has charisma, and was actually handed the "torch" from Big Arnie himself. Heard great things about his role in "Be Cool", too.)
The Rock?   :-/  :-X
Scoff if you must, but I wanted to throw someone from way leftfield into the mix, who I feel has a bright future ahead him. I thought he was very funny on MadTV and SNL. He was just on The Daily Show, and he was great on there as well(actually talking more about wrestling and the "Doom" movie, more than "Be Cool). He is getting a lot of show-steal buzz from his role in "Be Cool." (Which is getting ripped on in reviews, but the only positive thing they say about the movie is (guess)The Rock). In terms of an action star, he's the only likable one in post-Russell/Arnold/Stallone era.

Re: Allstar cast

. . .or how about replace The Rock(for a non-action hero) with. . . . . . . . . . CHRISTOPHER WALKIN!!! ;D

Re: Allstar cast

I think he has a long way to go before he can be put into the Russel/Arnold/Stallone category. Although I do not dis-like The Rock; his success is more attributed to the hype of 'THE ROCK'. My jury is still out on this dude and to put him in the category of ALL STAR CAST is an insult to the ALL STARS. (This is not an insult to you; its just opinion)

I think to qualify as a legitimate ACTION STAR one must have that one film that is catalpulting in nature; DIE HARD, GLADIATOR, FIRST BLOOD, THE TERMINATOR, ESCAPE FROM NEW YORK......

I see THE ROCK has a slate of films lined up for the 05/06 season. We'll see which one he carries into that category. A bit of advice? CHange the name THE ROCK; how can we take that seriously?

Re: Allstar cast

True about the name change; it will always leave a "wrasslin" stigma attached to him. But back to the Allstar thing, you're probably right, he doesnt fit, but I guess I was thinking more about an interesting cast, and, if a movie made with this cast today, no matter what the story, would be very interesting and would be a summer box office smash(which would be a good thing or a bad thing, actually--just dont let be a Bruckheimer movie!!).

Re: Allstar cast

Personally I would like to see The Rock work on a project with one of the todays directing greats.

I think he has great screen presence and has the opportunity to be this generations top action hero and more.

Apart from being a tough guy, he is entertaining and also humourous however so far his film selections and rolls haven 't been as great as they could have been.

Re: Allstar cast

I'll give you that; as mentioned above; I do not dislike him at all; in fact, I have been somewhat impressed with what he has done (ONly seen 2 of the films he has done; Walking Tall and that Jungle movie with Walken).

I think it is sad that The Rock is the only guy who stepped up AT ALL to become the next big action star, and Hollywood, I guess, doesn't want action heroes who are NOT fighting for political correctness, or are a flashback to the "evil" Reagan era. I guess they fear it will lead to another right-wing Schwarzenegger in politics and more red states.

Ben Affleck? Nope. Matt Damon(sorry fanboys, he's believable for a little bit, then he cracks that stupid smile and its all over)? Not really. Thomas Jane? Who?Ice Cube? No one will ever buy a chunky guy with a big mouth, whining about giant snakes as an action bad ass. Vin Diesel? Don't me laugh(or vomit)!! See what I mean?

they shouldve put the rock in the new xxx movie instead of ice cube, how can that guy be in barbershop and do action movies, he's so unbeleivable
