Alien bleps

OK. I just got a brand new Audio-Technica AT835b and a 25 ft. XLR of "Best" reliability. I recorded some audio with all the stock settings on the camera. The audio controls were right in the middle. The audio consisted mainly of people talking. The mic was about 2 to 3 feet away from them. As I was capturing the audio and video i noticed somthing very strange. when ther was somwhat of a high point in the speech there was somkind of high faint blep. The audio levels never even got to the red during recording. So i put it in vegas and brought it to the time line. I tested each channel seperatly and it only did it in the left one. My DVX only has about 8 hours on it so i don't think its a head problem and i didn't notice the problem untill using this new mic. Am i missing a setting somwhere or is this thing junk? Is it the cable, camera, mic or user? Please help.
