I loved it. I watched it and I just LOVED it to death - what a masterpiece. I seriously love movies where nothing REALLY happens but there is a journey to achieving that nothingness...

Another one of my favorite movies "Jesus' Son" follows this same pattern but I digress -

Alfie was just... it just felt so complete, and really - man I'm at a loss for words, I really liked it alot.

Agh I want to see it again - it just felt so - amazingly good, everything just sort of FIT, there was always something happening, every scene had a purpose, every line uttered had an importance to it that moved the story forward - even though the story really doesn't go much of anywhere, it's mostly him realizing that he can't live his life one way and expect to have the perks of a different lifestyle...

That's odd - I fixed it - go check it out :)

But back to Alfie... yeah he's like the epitomy of what the GQ man is - so well dressed... MMMMMM babbehhh

I liked the movie though, in all honesty. :)

Yeah, I did know that it was a remake - but I haven't seen the original I'm afraid. However, you should for sure check out the new one - I'm sure there will be obvious differences (between the free love of that era, and the AIDs and disease ridden world we now live in, along with the advent of womens rights becoming fully realized)

Food for thought...

Both versions are very good. I liked the Jude Law version very much... the original was very good as well... I have to go with the original though....

well basically Jude is playing the same kind of person.... just this one is better dressed and has more style than the character in Closer

Jude Law was brilliant in a handful of roles, but overall I'm not a huge fan. As far as Alfie...all I can say is WHY?! The original is classic stuff...and nobody can touch Michael Caine's performance, so why even try? I go back to my default question...why not remake films that actually sucked the first time around? You know- make 'em better. Otherwise (as in this case) you will fight an uphill battle time and time again.

i agree with you Callaghan it shouldn't have been remade...

that said I thought Jude's performance was great (no michael caine i know...)
Jude has that playboy look and style to him though... I liked him in this role. I own the new Alfie and i think i'm going to go watch it now.. all this talk about it just makes me want to rewatch it.

Monte, I cannot believe what a fornicator you are. Jude Law is a tool. A tool of the man. And you know what we say about the man?

Damn him.

Damn the man

Hey - so Jude Law is a tool? How so Nick? You know what - I think you're a big negative *NANCY* ...

Hmm ?

He's a tool because he was only in SIX PRODUCTIONS IN 2004. Pathetic. I know people doing adult films who conceptualize, direct, light, act, produce, finance and distribute HUNDREDS of productions a year. Jude needs to step it up.

There's a reason he's not been in more Nik, having turned down the opportunities to play superheroes Spider-Man and Superman in big time Hollywood fare due to the producers' unwillingness to let him have script approval on sequels, Law remains committed to creating only quality films.

Would you rather have him be in every Tom Dick and Harry's movie, like for example, "Noob Hunters III"

I'm thankful he doesn't take every role...

Good lord, look what it did to Halle Berry - what a trainwreck!

best wishes

Monte, please. Take a look at someone like, say, Jamie Foxx. He started out doing voice acting in C-Bear and Jamaal. Now, he's starring in such MASTERPIECES as 'Miami Vice', also being featured in some NAACP award thing. You start out small, and work your way to the top.

You, of all people, should know that by now.

Nik - I fail to see the relevance of Jamie Foxx to this discussion of ours. He has chosen his roles much less tactfully than Jude Law - and he's been in less as of late:

In 2005 he was in STEALTH, hahaha STEALTH! And Jarhead, both of which were poorly recieved here in the states.

So again, I fail to see the relevance of your argument for Jamie Foxx.
