Whether something is a success or not in television rarely has to do with a product being good or not. Just look at the deluge of reality TV like the Kardashians. Success in quality are not linked often and most times being successful is a matter of appealing to the lowest common denominator which is what you see most 'news' stations moving towards. Why have real journalism when you can just have pundits taking extreme positions and yelling at each other.
Couldn't agree more with you! One only has to watch ANY major network to see what they are trying to pass off now as journalism. Reporters interviewing reporters, paid hacks offering opinions that support the "editorial position of the network" and of course a vested interest in the worst possible outcome of any event that they exploit and exaggerate for as long as they can 'till the "crisis" arrives. Its a sad state and AJ did less of the above and perhaps their idealism cost them their jobs.
