It's hard being Michael Bay, what with all the money he needs to count and women he needs to objectify. Plus, one s**tty, loud, oversaturated three-hour car commercial is as good as the next, so you can't really blame the guy for re-using footage from one in another. He's got robot testicles to design! Frankly, the very existence of Transformers 3 is so insulting it's hard to feel further affronted by the fact that its director can't even bother to shoot new footage—in any event, as /Film points out,it's not the first time Bay's none it...


 
This is ultra lame to me.
Not Michael Bay. The fact that people resort to finding a few seconds here or there that are like his past movies (or footage from his past films)
in an attempt to insult the guy.

So filmmakers over time aren't allowed to have favorite shots/styles that they used in the past and bring back?

Tell that to JJ abrams and his lens flare show.

Once again sad.

Out of all the directors in the world, you think the guy that takes on HUGE projects with extremely high expectations,
huge ON SET visual effects, huge schedules who also blows through well over 100 setups in a day..
who is known for expecting nothing but the very best from his crews (and himself)..

If this is the tipping point for someone to dislike Michael Bay's style, then the joke is on that person...

If you don't like him, you won't like this news.
If you like his films, you likely couldn't care less about these details.
 
Still being a filmmaker it's interesting to see these things one way or another, learn what you can do, what to avoid, what you can get away with, or rather what you wont notice. But I find the peoples reactions even more interesting....
 
Well lets look at a couple of things here....

Considering that Michael Bay considers himself to be "The Second Coming", only after the big "C" of course... (that's Cameron btw).....

And considering his little cartoon only cost, give or take a bit, $400 million (yea... dollars).....

Why would he need to recycle old footage, unless of course he, OH DEAR GOD, screwed up?

Lazy filmmaking is bad enough, but when you have to recycle off your old films because you screw up your shots is just pathetic, even if you're the heir to the "King of the World!!!".

I honestly don't know why I'm wasting my time with this but its funny that you base your entire statement on the fact that "he screwed up".
Where on earth do you get your facts? Oh they are opinions.

With the 200 million budget do you really think he couldnt have done re-shoots? thats ridiculous to think he couldn't.
I'm sure he was very happy with the prior footage and instead of spending another $XXXXXXX when they are such small moments in a movie
why would he? 99.99% of sane normal people wouldn't notice nor would they care even if they did realize it.
From what I've heard he's a perfectionist when it comes to his shots.
Do we know all the facts of why he did it? of course not.
Do we know the red tape involved in doing shots of us military aircraft carriers?
Do we know the red tape involved in shutting down a particular highway?
Do we know 100 other things I can't even think of? Of course not.

Why not just come out with the real reason you don't like him. He's successful. Obviously that is nothing more than an opinion
but I think it's more realistic than saying he reused footage because he "screwed up".
