Has anyone used the AJ-MC700P Panasonic shotgun mic. I just haven't been able to find any reviews or comparisons. And i was wondering if it compares to the senn. 416 or what it is close to.

10 yers ago and mor Panasonic and ikegami where using Bayer dynamic microphones for their camcorders - definitely not 60 usd crap ,
dont really know what happens these days .
you need to check the mic
60$ comes with low cost cameras as200 . and 100 , might be that for 20 grand it have better specifications .
if you on budget audio technica 4073 is about what you need in 90% of the time .

Sorry I confused this mic with another lower quality mic.This is a $60 mic and you really cant compare it to a Sennhieser 416 which will cost you around $1000.
However Oleg is correct, the 4073A would be a good choice.

The Panasonic AJ-MC700p is a certainly a high end professional video camera shotgun microphone. By no means is it a "cheap $60 mic". The Panasonic AJ-MC700p lists at B&H Photo Video for around $950. And worth the price. It comes as standard equipment on most all of Panasonic's Professional High End Cameras, like: AJ-D700 and AJ-SDX900 and many other Panasonic DVCPRO camcorders. It is not really fair to compare it to a Sennheiser 416, (which is also a really great mic. but better suited at the end of a boom pole). The Panasonic AJ-MC700p is specifically designed to be a video camera mounted microphone, and this is where it excels. Have used this microphone and can attest to it's high quality and reliability.
