Hi Guys,
planning on a little series of the local airport (reality thing)for our local channel, and wondering about the type of equipment to use to produce a series like this type Airline. A freind sugested 2 DVX200 's could do the job? As I'm not yet an owner of this camera, I just thought I'd ask if the 200s would fit the bill so to speak or if there would be any drawbacks in a prod like this?
 
dvx100's and hvx200's..... the dvx is standard-def. the hvx is hi-def

dvx -

drawbacks: is standard def. not shoulder mounted - for all day tv shoots you'd want to buy a shoulder mount for it.

hvx -

drawbacks: it's tapeless and uses flash memory.... for all day tv shoots you'd want to use inexpensive tape. also not shoulder mounted.

if you want hi-def stuff then you should look into some of the HDV cameras. most tv is still standard-def though so the dvx should be good.
 
in the previous post i assumed that because you said reality show, all the camera work would be hand held and have long all-day shoots. if this isn't the case then you can disregard my comments.
 
Well its not such a big airport so it won't be running about all day. But shoulder mounted or hand held in the end there just as painfull I suppose.

This production is in the planning stages and I just needed some tips on the way to go equipment wise trying to be as inobtrusive as possible this is why
I thought the DVX200 is a good way to go... But the P2 card system is definatley making problems.
 
I think I'd probably recommend the JVC HD100 here, then. Nice, comfortable form factor, tape-based shooting, pretty good quality otherwise. Generally, at the low budget level, I always say HVX200 for narrative/music video, HD100 for everything else. Of course, if you have a bit more money there are better options in the SD arena, but I'll assume you don't have $20,000 to spend on each camera.
