Definitely Check it. And make sure to label "Handle With Care" and "Video Equipment"

That always works :D

I never check anything. I removed my view finder so my camera fits in a regular duffle bag. My crane case fit on big airliners but after getting checked on the runway of a puddle jumper once, I vowed never again. Dudes overhanded it into the hull and when I got it out, it not only had frost on it, it was turned on and my battery was almost dead. This could have bagged me had I had a land and shoot gig.
I don't fly with sticks and honestly never use them locally either. Because I shoot reality, less is much more so it's just me, the camera and pockets full of tapes, batteries and mics.

If you MUST check it, DO NOT lable it as video equipment. It will get tampered with less if you lable it Horse Sperm open samples.
