AHH! Bad shutter speed!

For some reason that I cannot fathom, the shutter speed on my DVX got turned up, and I shot a bunch of footage at an unusable shutter speed. It would take a bunch of time and money to recreate the shoot. Is there any way that I can mess around with the video in AE and get it to look a little more normal? I'd greatly appreciate any suggestions.

Thanks,

What mode were you shooting? If it was 60i, you have a prayer, if a bit of a workaround. And even if not, or even if you shot 60i, look to some of the time effects like CC Wide Time and CC Time Blend.

And Frame Blending could help also.

I don't know, just an idea, but try to slow your footage down by 50% and enable pixel frame blending. Render that out and import it back into After Effects again. Now speed it up by 200% and enable frame blending.

I haven't tested it yet, but I think it should work.

Just to clarify, is the shutter speed too long or too short. If it is too short then you can use motion blur type plugin to smooth the motion. If it is too long then you are somewhat limited. If you are looking for a film look then you can deinterlace the video - dropping one field - this should make the motion more juddery.

However, if your shutter speed was so slow that the blur is terrible then you may be stuck or if you are not trying to make the video look like film and don't want to deinterlace it. There is a significant difference between intra field motion and motion blur and this makes me dubious that excessive motion blur can be effectivly tackled.
