As I was saying I just loaded a tape into fcp and i didn't save it immeadiately and the program crashed on me. The clip is gone from the browser and when I went to go look for it on the external harddrive it is gone too. But when I looked on my macs harddrive in the capture scratch I found the clip. Does this mean that it actually was saved and I don't have to recapture it? I just have to get it back into final cut pro. If so how would I do this.

Also when I open it up as a quicktime file in a the quicktime viewer it doesn't look as good as when i looked at in final cut. It looks washed out somewhat. Less contrast. Why is this? Will this happen when I author a dvd in dvd pro?

Thanks.

If it is in the Capture Scratch folder for the project, you can simply go File-->Import-->Files (command I) and navigate to the folder that the clip is in.

Should add it to the Bin.

I just did this tonight: I was doing a capture now thing, and as soon as I hit ESC Final Cut crashed. But, when I restarted the program, I was able to recover the captured file from the Capture Scratch.
I don't know the answer to your other question.

Do a search in the FCP manual for Gamma. FCP add a gamma curve in the viewer to replicate how the clip will look on a monitor.
