I am about to buy either one for my hpx170.
The panasonic cost 480 $ CAN
The Rode cost 200 $ CAN
The rode has good review but, it is a long term investment, does the exta money worth to buy the panasonic one? I have an two mikes for boom, so the on camera mic will be more back up and very unique moment when I need to shoot very quickly or alone with the cam.
I like the fact that the Panasonic mic goes directly on the side of the cam and less the fact taht the rode goes in the shoe mount; makes it feel awkwardly too high on the cam for smooth operation and If I need to use my Led light, can't. I am almost answering my own question but i'd like other opinions.
And, anyone can give me their opinion on the Shure sm89? I got it free (wirth 700$ CAN). I'll use it more outside but, any one ever used it?
