I know its a dumb question, but for someone who still strapped for cash, hows this mic "specifically" designed for the DVX?
I'm not doing anything serious yet, but I would like to know the price to quality ratio on some of the mics out there for 200

It's a safe mic (no audio blow-outs) and not very good. Don't waste you money!

At rock bottom, I'd consider the Azden SGM-2X at $220. However, considering that another $60 will move you up to an AT897 (with free shockmount at B&H), the Azden doesn't seem like a great value.
 
Could you please update your tips? this thread is bit old and I am about to buy dvx100 now and want to have reasonable camera mounted mic. obvious choice is AGMC100 but if you could advice something better recently on market (ideally available at BH photovideo)?
 
Tibor - read my top 5 shotgun mics post - dont waste your money on anything less than those mics, or an Oktava MC012

I bought one when I got my DVX for much the same reasons. DON'T WASTE YOUR DOUGH!:thumbsup:
