Agents, managers

Any director in-here have a manager or agent (good one)? IF so, anyway you could share your thoughts with us as to how to hook one. If one's reel is superb and work is very good, will this help?

best time to obtain a manager/agent is when you have some "heat" (someone wants to buy a pitch, or someone wants to hire you for a gig, etc). at that point, all you do is call any agency (caa, whoever) and say I have a deal on the table with so-and-so, and I want to speak to an agent about representation today -- not a junior agent, an agent.

they'll be falling over themselves to rep you. short answer is, an agent isn't going to be able to get you work any better than you can generate for yourself. you have to make your own headway first. generally speaking.
