Making out in movie theaters is fun....usally thats why i go..cuz theres no where to go do it...but if im into a movie..im like...itee girll u besss be waitin up on this fizzilm...fo shizzl

The worst that could happen is that theater owners might get so desperate that they will

-- Drop ticket prices

-- Clean up the theaters

-- Keep idiots from ruining the experience for everyone else

Boy, I hope that doesn't happen... I might actually enjoy the theaters for once.

Probably they'll:

1.Raise ticket prices.
2.Schlep on maintainance.
3.Switch to digital projection and automated server-based playback systems. Eliminate staff.

Brian, that read like something straight outta Mad magazine. :)

What I think is funny, is that the studios have neglected more mature audiences for twenty years or so to cater to the 18-34 y/o male and it seems that this is the first demagraphic to jump ship, so to speak. I hope that the studios will start to make grown up movies for a change.

And, now the independent storyteller is poised to triumph over the industry! The rural midwest will become the new mecca. NO!

Hollywood has extended itself as far away from California as possible to save money. For example, Cold Mountain is a cival war movie set in North Carolina... yet, they filmed in Romania! I mean, ROMANIA!

What does this have to do with theaters? Absolutely nothing... Thought it was interesting, tho.

"Why the Slump?

The summer movie season, which officially ends on Labor Day, Sept. 5, is expected to produce box-office results 9 percent below those of 2004 and attendance figures 11.5 percent below, according to box-office tracker Exhibitor Relations. In separate interviews with today's (Wednesday) New York Times studio executives generally acknowledged that the downturn could be attributed to unexceptional and unexciting films. New Line Cinema Chairman Robert Shaye, whose studio produced Wedding Crashers, one of the summer's few blockbuster hits, told the Times that in previous years, "you could still count on enough people to come whether you failed at entertaining them or not, out of habit, or boredom, or a desire to get out of the house. You had a little bit of backstop." Universal Vice Chairman Marc Shmuger remarked similarly that "there's a cumulative wearing down effect. We're beginning to witness the results of that. People are just beginning to wake up that what used to pass as summer excitement isn't that exciting, or that entertaining." Michael Lynton, chairman of Sony Pictures Entertainment, vowed that from now on, his studio will be making "only movies we hope will be really good." But Tim Rothman, co-chairman of 20th Century Fox, disagreed with his peers. "Everybody keeps saying it's the worst of times; it seems fine to me," he said."

IMDB August 24

Of course Romania, I heard that you could rent a complete Panavison Millenium package for two goats and a bushel of turnips.

Guess I just lost the Romanian vote.

Nah, the cameras most likely come from Germany. None of the local rental houses have that kind of gear. Well, they do, but it's subletted from Germany. Here's the thing: carpenters go for $20/Day. And, honestly, after spending the entire month of August in Romania, I can tell you that is plenty to go around for a family living in one of the more glamorous highrise apartments in the capital city. You could lease a good car and have a nice lifestyle on that income, actually. Movie production in Romania is becoming a big thing. I actually bumped into a Steven Segall picture shooting in Bucharest... A substantial portion of the skilled labor were from England! And, they were not working for $20/Day, I can assure you!

Ok, make it three goats and two bushels of turnips!!

What about Bollywood? Dont they make like 400 films a year..while Hollywood makes like 200 or suttin? They're like beasting with money compared to Hollywood...wat is this madness?

Bollywood is huge. But you have to remeber, India is the 2nd most populated country in the world and has over 23 OFFICAL lanquages. Their output is mostly for domestic consumption.

But if its domestic consumption....and hollywood is international...i figured hollywood would be bigger...cuz they also show films in india too...but then the answer back to wat im bout to say would prolly be cuz of india's population.

maddness...
