Ag-dvx100ap?

The box my camera came in said "AG-DVX100AP." The paint on the actual camera says "PANASONIC AG-DVX100A." Also- the manual says "AG-DVX100Ap."

EDIT: I noticed by the serial number it also says Model: ag-dvx100ap

Does anyone have any idea what the P stands for and why it didn't say the same thing on my camera or website?

Also, are you supposed to get the dvd+book & software with your camera and then send in the rebate for cash/10 free tapes/battery later? Because I got the dvd+book & software already (to my surprise) but nothing else.

I ordered from buydig.com

P=Pacific (most likely), i.e. for folk who touch the Pacific Ocean, like North America.

But, whether the P stands for that or not, it's the US model.

As to the rest...I bought mine well before anybody gave me goodies along with it, so I haven't a clue how that works.

Not sure what the P stands for either but if you are in the states you got an NTSC version which is a good thing.
As for the rebate...hum, bought from Buydig - they are not an authorized dealer so you may not get that rebate. Funny that you got the book and DVD though since they are usually only provided with purchases from authorized dealers.

So what else did you buy from buydig?

Others may have more input.

On Buydig's website they have a rebate form that you download and send in.

I had just never heard of a AG-DVX100AP before and tried some searches and didn't come up with much.

I've always heard about cameras called "graymarket cameras" and that's why I researched for weeks before I bought from buydig. Everyone reccommended them and said they are a trustworthy business.

This camera is the only thing I bought from buydig.

I doubt any of the regulars around here recommended them. EVS and B&H seem to be the most recommended around here.
Anyway, looks like you got lucky and didn't receive a gray product but buydig is NOT an authorized Panasonic dealer so there's still a chance you will not see that rebate.
 
Yes Voodoo is correct "P" stands for "Panasonic America", as opposed to "E" for "europe".
