Does anyone know if the DVX100 has pass-through capabilities? I haven't been able to get the "external monitor" feature working with it in Vegas 4.0d.

Any suggestions?

Yep.

Just hook the camera up to firewire, and put it into VTR mode. Plug in the RCAs or s-video from the camera to the TV, turn on external monitor preview and it should be there.

Will it be able to preview a 24p project?  Is there a realtime pulldown made at DV out?

SirAllen, I did exactly that but it still wouldn't work. That's why I posted the question here. My project is 24pA. My motherboard is an MSI K7N2G-ILSR.

i have been running it with firewire and a S-video cable out to monitor just fine. It does however, choke a little and says its playing at 18-21 fps. I did have an instance where it stopped working for a while and it seemed one of the setting changed. I think it was the video device had changed to standard instead of OHCI Compliant IEEE 1394/DV.

I can relate to ur problem!
Sometimes the external monitor hook-up just would not work. I found that setting-up the firewire-camcorder(VTR)-TV connection BEFORE starting Vegas often does help. According to Vegas the program is very sensitive to FireWire cards which are not perfectly OHCI compliant.

:P

Hehehe. Guys, I think I know what's going on. Take your tape out of the transport before using the DVX100 for pass-through.

Apparently, when a tape is in the camera it is in Firewire output mode, meaning it's wanting to send a signal out to the computer and not receive one. With a tape out, it allows a signal to be shown on the LCD and passed-through to another device.

Ran into this issue a few days ago.
