If the head gets worn on my DVX100B, can I just hook this up to it and use it instead?

or the other options like save my cams tape head for outdoor shooting?

What are the other advantages and disadvantages to using a deck and how does this one compare to the 2000?

You could, but this isn't a good deck at all. There are much better decks out there. This product is a rebadged JVC deck.

Anything else that's not from JVC. Probably something like the Sony DSR series.
