ag-dv1dc deck - anyone have one?

hey all,
i'm looking for a small deck. i'd like to stay with panasonic to keep batteries/chargers standardized, so the ag-dv1dc looked like the best candidate - however.....i can't seem to find them anywhere anymore.

i guess that i could just get a consumer camera and use it as a deck/2nd camera/backup (as discussed here before) but i'm wondering if anyone has heard if there is a new version of the ag-dv1dc in the works - or if anyone has one they want to sell. haven't even seen any on ebay of late.

i have a lipstick camera that this deck would work best with - hence my aversion to another camera (that would work, but would be a bit bigger, etc...)

I don't think that there is another version in the works, which is too bad as I have one and love it. I mounted it on top of my dvx, ran a firewire cable to it and got a clone of every thing I shot. The dvx will turn the deck on automatically. A canon zr 80 can also be used for this purpose.
Try Pro-Tape.com - call them, they may have one left.

it is discontinued, and out of stock...

yeah I dont know why that thing got canned so quick, seemed like a great little tool. If they put a hard drive in there instead of tapes, they would make a mint, but I guess that would eat into thier tape stock sales :)

well, shane IS the man. pro-tape in austin had ONE left. NOT ANYMORE!!!! wasn't cheap ($900) but wasn't full retail, either. may have been the last one left in the country - i know i called nearly everyone....there are a lot of them on websites, but not in stock.
the guys at pro-tape were great. it was the first time i've used them and they will get a call again in the future.
