AfterEffects on a MacBook

I have a Black 2.0 ghz MacBook (2gb ram) and I have wanted After Effects for several years and i am ready to make the jump. But i am confused as to whether After Effects will be able to run on the MacBook. Keep in Mind i do not have a MacBook Pro just a macbook. So is a MacBook capable of running AfterEffects and if it is would it be wiser of me to wait until i get a stronger mac such as the macbook pro or would it run fine on my macbook.

You can definitely run it from a MacBook. But expect it to be a bit slow, the render times to be long, RAM preview almost out of the question and you don't have any bracket keys.

But yes, you can still do some really great stuff in it ;)

I use a MacBook for light AE work when I am out and about. I don't really consider it to be that slow.. no slower than a top of the line computer from a couple years ago. And my RAM preview (in SD that is) work just fine.

That said, I don't render on it that often, so i don't have any comparisons between it and my Octo desktop. But, if you are on a tight budget, the MacBook will work just fine.

I do all of my work on a MacBook Pro and it works fine. I have a 2 ghz processor and 2gb of ram. Some of the more complex scenes take a while to render, but even with a large amount of green screen work and complex effects, the render times aren't unreasonable.

i am running cs3 on the same macbook you have and it runs great. render times are surprisingly fast for most things. my other box is an 8 core mac pro which is definitely faster but not tons faster. you will be fine.
