I am tring to color correct on ae6.5, 24pa video (from dvx100).
every thing looks fine from the capturing with pp1.5 until i render the after effects video. IT LOOKS JERKY DOESN'T LOOK 24P ANY MORE.

I have done it with uncompress, no field, lower field first, all the options for pull down (swws, sswww etc etc).

PLEASE HELP ME! :'(

I JUST WANT TO WORK WITH AFTER EFFECTS AND STILL GET THE 24 P LOOK ONCE I PLAY IT BACK ON PREMIER PRO 1.5.

WHAT ARE THE CORRECT SET-UPS FOR AFTER EFFECTS ?
??? ;)

Re: AFTERE EFFECTS 6.5 SET UP TO RENDER 24P FOOTAG

what are you using to color grade in AE, magic bullet? Or you just using the standard filters it comes with? Why don't you just color correct in AP pro? I do all my color corrections in AP pro and I'm able to mimic almost all the magic bullet presets with just using the standard filters pro comes with. That way I keep everything 24 frames without worry about exporting back n forth with AE. Hopes this helps in anyway.

Thank you a lot for the advice, I use vegas and p pro, and it works fine with both, but i need to know the render setups for ae because I use it a lot for grafics animation and for other filters like glow.

HELP, I NEED TO KEEP THE 24P LOOK AFTER I USE AE, HOW CAN I DO IT. ??? ??? ??? ??? ??? ??? ??? ???

Let me play with what your talking about and I'll let you know exactally how to do it. It's been awhile since I last played with AE so I'll give a test and let you know.

Re: AFTERE EFFECTS 6.5 SET UP TO RENDER 24P FOOTAG

Here's what I do, and it seems to work OK:
I. Import 24pa footage
1) Import footage into AE.
2) Right click on footage in project window and select Interpret Footage -> Main.
3) In the Interpret Footage dialog box, click Guess 24Pa pulldown. A message should now say "effective frame rate 23.976."
4) Click OK to close the dialog.

II. Set up the Compositon
1) Either create a new composition or select Compositon -> Compostion Settings.
2) In the Comp Settings dialog box, enter 24 or 23.97 in the Frame Rate dialog.
3) Click OK to close the Comp Settings Dialog.

III. Rendering your Comp
1) Select Composition -> Make Movie.
2) In the Render Queue window, make sure Rneder Settings is set to
"Best Settings"
3) Make sure the Output Module is set to Microsoft DV NTSC 48kHz (unless your camera is PAL, of course).
4) Click Render.

I follow these steps and my output looks good. What are you using?

Re: AFTERE EFFECTS 6.5 SET UP TO RENDER 24P FOOTAG

Thank you a lot Kevin_Corcoran but I did what you said and once I play it back on pp1.5 w the panasonic set up (after rendering) what I get is video that looks jerky. The resolution looks good but there is a jerky movement, seems to me that is between frames.

On the rendering for af6.5 with out fields looks like a stop motion video and rendering with lower field first, the video looks jerky.

help ??? ??? ??? ??? ??? ??? ???

Hi axent vivo en merida y tengo el mismo problema, lo que hice para disminuir el flickeo es trabajar en 30 frames y luego en premier uso 30 frames igual, he leido que si se puede pero apenas descubra como te comento

Re: AFTERE EFFECTS 6.5 SET UP TO RENDER 24P FOOTAG

Sorry Axent, I was hoping somebody else would eventually post some more info.

The steps I posted work for me. Can you post your exact settins -- comp settings, footage interpretation, Render Settings, and Output Module?

Without that kind of info, we're just guessing.

Re: AFTERE EFFECTS 6.5 SET UP TO RENDER 24P FOOTAG

Footage tends to play jerky if you render it as an uncompressed quicktime or a microsoft windows avi with no compression. As Kevin mentioned, choosing Microsoft DV and high settings should work. Try again with no fields selected. Sorry I can't be of more help. It would be easier seeing each step you did.

YUCATECO
GRACIAS,
TU VIDEO SE VE PERFECTO, EXEPTO POR EL LAPSO DE TIEMPO QUE HAY PARA PASAR DE UN CUADRO A OTRO, PARECE QUE LE FALTA UN CUADRO. ESE ES EL MISMO PROBLEMA QUE ESTOY TENIENDO, CUANDO METO EL VIDEO A LA COMPUTADORA Y LO EDITO Y LO VEO POR MEDIO DE VEGAS VIDEO O PREMIER PRO, TODO SE VE BIEN , EN PERFECTO 24P, PERO A LA HORA DE PROCESARLO EN AFX ES CUANDO VALE GORRO TODO.
SI SABES LA SOLUCION TE AGRADECERE ME LO DIGAS.

SALUDOS Y GRACIAS

KEEP UP WITH THE GOOD WORK

;)

it may be a pulldown problem

it may be a pulldown problem

I know this isn't any good for you if you have irreplaceable footage already "in the can," but try shooting some video in 24p NOT 24pA and see if that fixes it. Don't know if this will solve it, but the whole 24p thing is handled very strangely by both the DV codec and most programs. The DV codec can't really do true 24p, it's pulldown trickery from what I understand, and 24p and 24pA use different built-in pulldown schemes. The problem may be resolved for you in straight 24p mode.

Re: AFTERE EFFECTS 6.5 SET UP TO RENDER 24P FOOTAG

I have also had this problem, without any success in solving it. The problem is that even thought the camera shoots 24fps the information that goes to tape is still 60i with a 2-3-3-2 pulldown. The reason that the footage looks jerky is that AE is misinterpreting the footage. I have tried all of the pulldown options there are 4 I believe and none of them have worked. however I was trying to work with the footage in a 24fps comp. maybe if you treat it as 60i in AE and then do the pulldown you will get the desired result.
