Hi Guys,

What kind oh hardware you need to do editing on AE CS5 efficiently?

I have core i7 920 @ 4.2 Ghz, Intel X2 Gen2, 3GB DDR3 and I find it very lagging.
My hardware flies in Vegas but AE is extremely slow.

I just bought another 12GB DDR3 set to make the total to "15GB DDR3".
I am not sure if it will improve anything. My video card is nvidia 9600 gso 768MB.

Any suggestions guys. Thanks! :)
 
Are you using win7 64bit?

Ram will help. Do you have a fast raid 5 array or similar? If so drive caching can help.

Oh I never thought of the raid 5. That's interesting.

Can you elaborate about the drive cashing? Drive these days are very cheap so use
that as if it is a ram.
 
3GB is a little on the lower side for CS5, but apart from that, it is surely not your hardware. I have run PPro CS5 on Core 2 Duo 2.5 with 4GB RAM and it runs just fine. If upgrading RAM doesn't solve your problems, try reinstalling and contacting Adobe support. Probably some conflicts with other software, drivers, and the like. Your hardware is top notch, don't worry about that.
