After Effects crashing (quits unexpectedly)

Whenever I try opening up AE, I get a pop-up box that says it has "quit unexpectedly". When I hit "REOPEN" I get the same message.

I'm running a Macbook Pro with IntelCore 2 Duo 2.5ghz, 4gb RAM, Nvidia GForce 8600M GT.

It's been fine for about a year now, now all of the sudden I can't get it to open. I grabbed some fonts off dafont.com recently for the first time. This wouldn't have anything to do with it would it?

I notice my computer freezes up often as well. I took the Adobe suite off my computer for a few days to reinstall, and noticed it ran better without the suite installed. Now that it is reinstalled, I get the same message and my computer is back to freezing on occasion. Thanks.
 
Check your After Effects Crash log and see if it specifies anything unusually causing the unexpected quiting
 
It could be the Hard Disk... something like this happened to me and it was an error of the index, try to repair the HD and the permissions
 
I had a similar problem on my desktop. Illustrator, Photoshop and After Effects would all crash on launch. After I got rid of the fonts I got from DaFont it worked fine.
