After Effects and Premiere Pro / inconsistent syncing

Hello everybody.

I have captured at 24Fps via my blackmagic camera.

When import my footage, meaning multiple dng files in After Effects, I always make sure that the sync complies with the composition settings, or rather, it's all set to 24fps. When I look at the timeline the footage length is shorter than it's supposed to be. About 25% less than if I were to view the exact same clip in Premiere. I'm confused as to what is going on. This is a problem because there's an actual problem. The reason I'm important the RAW DNG sequence in AE is because I'm comfortable color correcting in there.

Actually, I realize that the rendered out AE footage is faster, meaning the motion is faster.

Any thoughts?

In After Effects click on your footage in the Projects window. Then click File, Interpret Footage, Main. In the assume this frame rate box type 23.976. See if that works.

25% different? That's huge. That's way more than the 23.98 vs 24 difference. That sounds more like you're running 24fps footage in a 30fps timeline. Check your sequence settings and also your footage interpretation.
If that's not it and it's just audio then I'd say it's the synch rate, i.e. 48khz vs 32khz. If the sequence and footage settings are correct and it's the video that is still changing this much then I'm thinking it's a massive misinterpretation of the footage or a problem with the codec. I've seen this sort of thing when people export slideshows as video and the codec doesn't show the frames that are supposed to be repeated. With video from a camera this shouldn't be happening.

Yes, After Effects is most likely assuming a frame rate of 30 frames a second. I don't know if demoboy was shooting in actual 24 frames a second or 24p which would be 23.976. He has to enter the correct frame rate for the actual footage. And it is a 20% drop from 30 to 24. You can also change the frame rate when rendering.
