After a film 'roll out' effect

Hey all

Wondering if anyone has a roll out effect - where the screen kind of goes orange between shots where the exposure increaces in a film camera.

If possible, in HD?

Would really help out if someone has one....

Thanks!

Is that what it is called? I have been looking for the same thing! I never knew what it was called though. Sometimes it is streaks or circular flashes that are always kind of blurry and yellow/red/orrange. Anyone know? Or just what it is actually called so we can find it on stock sites? There's gotta be some stock sites with it.

It is a very organic natural effect.

Correct. It's not a roll out. A roll out is when the film you are shooting runs out at full speed (24fps).... besides the abrupt footage disruption, and perhaps some motion blur effect... there is no effect.

What you are thinking of is either film flashing (what someone mentioned earlier) or the effect which happens when you start and stop film. When the film does NOT roll out, it often must get to speed (0-24fps) and then when done shooting must return to a stop (24fps-0fps)... Since a cinematographer sets his exposure for shooting speed (24fps) the start up and ending frames of film tend to have a flashing effect due to the frames being overexposed (since the film is going slower then 24fps through the gate).

This is obvious when watching film footage shot with 'in camera' edits... like old 16mm family films (think wonder years).

I'm guessing that is what you mean. A roll out has little exposure or side effects.
