Hi guys, i need and advice, i want to buy a camera but the highest price i can reach is $1300, i want to use it for short films and may be short documentaries. Please i need your suggestions. Thanks.

Go to an online auction site and get a good second hand camera. At best, you'll only get a bottom-of-the-barrel handycam for $1,300, so you need to go second hand. You ideally need 3CCD. A PD150 or PD170 would do, but they're pretty dated now.

I would rather go for a DVX100 than a PD150 or 170. But that's just because I prefer the DVX100 instead of the PD170.

ok excelent, but i have another question now, DVX100, PD150 or 170 how many "drum hours" and "operation hours" this cameras can resists until they need a proper service?.

Trying to get a reasonable second hand DVX100 for 1300 bucks is a good option. If you prefer to buy new, at that price-point, you also might wanna consider the Canon HV20 as an alternative, which can be had at around 1000$ and looks to be a pretty cool little cam. Several people on this forum have one.

Have a look over here: HV20

Try not to get too hung up on the camera you use. It's all about the story.
I'll watch a feature film made with Pixelvision if the story is compelling.

And remember your sound is even more important than your images in my
opinion. Just my 2 cents. I'm shooting a feature right now on a Sony PD100
and I love it.

Good luck!
