Af100 issues in fcp

When I have a big project shot over multiple days on the af100 I have issues in log and transfer. I know that fcp renames the clips on the cards as they come in...for example clip #1 may change to clip #72 etc. Usually this all works fine.

The last couple projects I've actually had fcp rename clips and then replace the content/media of the original clip... Writing over the original content and screwing my edit up. I can't quite figure out what's going on. I'm on newest version of fcp7 on snow leopard.

Anyone had this issue? My work around is to create a new project each time I import so it doesn't rename the clips and all is good - is there something else I can do or is this work around the only way?

uhhh, I've never had this happen before. How are you ingesting clips? Are you prepping cards with a unique reel/folder name? And are you ingesting clips without renaming them?

I'm ingesting clips from folders that are labelled by date of shoot (usually only shoot less than a full card everyday). I don't rename the footage as I usually label it in the project once it's in... That way works way quicker for me as I don't usually have time to sit and watch it import.
