An OEM PL mount adapter for $500 or less.
That looks like a newer/improved version, because it has its own tripod mount. I know there were concerns about the first version because of worries about the strength of the mount and the stresses it'd put on the camera body, but this seems like a very simple no-budget solution -- mount the tripod directly to the mount. That way the only stress on the mount is the weight of the GH1 body, which is incredibly light, so ... great idea!

That would mean developing a whole new camera.Agreed. Perheps a p2 version 9-12 mos later.

It's been done before. HMC150 and HPX170 are basically the identical camera hardware, with different recording media. That would mean developing a whole new camera.
I know it's a little bit off topic but, lets say I want to use my Letus and Nikon lenses on AF-100 to get 24x36 mm full frame DOF. would it worth all the trouble? Which "off the shelves " lens I could use as a relay lens between the camera and the Letus? I thought I could use the AF-100, the Letus and a KiPro recording ProRes and have a sub sub "Alexa system"... again, sorry for the off topic post...
cause it has at least 3 times the focal plane area of a 4/3 chip, and so a much shallower DOF, but you're right, makes no sense after all... too much glass... thanksBut why would you *want* to? It seems a little redundant to stick a 35mm adapter in front of a camera that already accomplishes what a 35mm adapter does.
It's already almost APS-C sized. The micro 4/3 chip isn't small, it's four times bigger than a 2/3" chip.so, my suggestion for the panny AF-100 would be a bigger chip, ASP-C size at least... as dreams are free...
Lets be productive and not shoot ideas down. Its up to panny to implement things so just post your suggestions and dont be counter productive
I like the option of the I/O module that takes p2 and has AVC Intra. Heres my issue, I dont have spare endless hours to transcode a long gop codec to an I frame codec. Yeah its easy to do, and yeah its workable, I just dont have the time and if I did I know a million other ways Id prefer to spend it.
