AE rendering in wrong format, frame rate, etc.

I don't know why I'm having such a tough time with this, but after I work on a clip and render it out, it ends up with different settings than when I started. I just applied some effects to an NTSC DV 23.98 clip. When I render it out and try to bring it back into FCP, it's the wrong frame rate, wrong size, and is of lower image quality. In AE I just want to import and export the clip with the same setting and not change any of them, but I can't figure out why I can't do that. I figure it may have something to do with the render settings or the output module, but when I check the settings, it appears I have everything right, but apparently not.

Thoughts?

There may be several possible reasons why you are experiencing such a problem but off the top of my head I would have to say that your sequence settings in FCP might be set differently than your render settings in AE. Regardless on how you decide to render your composition in After Effects, as long as your FCP sequence set to another format, frame rate, aspect ratio etc, your FCP settings will always override your clip's final properties.

For example, let's say your FCP sequence is set to H.264 and you rendered a lossless QuickTime .mov from AE (Animation), FCP will determine how the clip is interpreted before you export your project.

This may or may not be the solution but maybe if you double-checked your sequence settings in Final Cut Pro and made sure they matched your settings in AE, we could figure out whether this is the issue your having or not.
