AE not using all the RAM

ok...so i duno much about AE and RAM usage. actually just got AE. but i have an i7 machine with 12gb of ram, 64bit vista ultimate. when i was rendering a project, at the bottom of the AE workspace said "RAM: 60% used of 4.0gb". why isnt it utilizing all the RAM?

forgive my AE noobness!

You have to utilize multiprocessing in the prefs to get the most RAM usage, generally 2 gigs per core is recommended. AE is still a 32 bit program so it can only address 4 gb. Next version will be 64 bit though which will lift the cap.

jambredz,

You might want to look into Grid Iron Nucleo Pro 2. Will give you better performance for sure. I'm looking forward to AECS5 64bit, but for now AECS4 with Nucleo Pro 2 works for me.

Nucleo and Multiprocessing are essentially the same thing. Nucleo has some added features so that it's still a valid product, but for the basics, you're not getting much difference between the two...as far as RAM previews go.
