AE Licensing....

I have a mate in the States and was wanting to get a copy of AE CS3 from him and then install it on my UK MacBookPro.

Does anyone foresee any issues in me doing this? I was wondering as Adobe charge a huge premium to us UK buyers and didn't want to buy it and then find that Adobe have crippled it to prevent me from using it.

Not quite... he is going to buy the full retail box and then on a visit here to the UK he'll bring it over so it should still be shrink wrapped. He has a PC and I'm on a Mac besides he has no interest in AE!
