AE intro advice/comments

I think it's good in general, but did the client request that it be that long?

My input is that it should be 3-4X shorter. Pick the pace WAY up, maybe.

There are really not any clients; I'm a student and it was a comedy show that i was paid to be one of the camera operators. The project ended up going south for the production company, so the footage became worthless. I asked if i could use it in a non-profit way to edit and add it to my reel as an editor/filmer/etc... Just to sum up the purpose for this piece.

Thanks for the comments on lenght, I'll shorten it down much more.

Is there a certain default lenght you work around for short titles, such as names?
3 secs, 5 secs, etc...

thnx.

Timing is very subjective....normally the rule is: If it looks good roll with it. Personally I liked the length of it.You are always going to hear different opinions but unless it is really off it will be generally pleasing to the majority of the audience. Two people is def. not enough to get a good opinion for it though.

I mean depending what you are going for with it (to me it seemed like a good intro to a full night of standup comedy) but maybe too much if it was just a couple comedians for like 10 minutes total. Personally though I really liked it. I thought the look was great and the music to be fitting.

If those pictures were higher res.(ie. actual pictures rather than footage masked) I could see that as a tv spot(ie. comedy central) in a heart beat. You've got a good eye. Keep it up

Nice work. I like the way you cut to the music. The popping noises in the 2nd version didn't go well with the music though. Either make it sound better, or just use the breaks in the music. The last frame ("Kings of Vegas" sign) seems more static than the others, so you may want to add some animation. Also, personally, I wouldn't want a TV show theme to be more than about 30 seconds or so. Otherwise, the audience can lose interest really fast and reach for the remote control. Just one opinion though.

Sorry, I just now watched the second version. Much better, but it still feels like it could be tightened up a little. If there were a way to get the images to stick with more of a quick flash of them instead of the movements around them.

I think that if you time it with the music a little better (as in quickening the pace of the movement, not the entire piece) it will come together. The way it is now, the viewer gets too long to look closely at some of the work done and faults could be picked out. For example, a few of the cutouts of the comedians are a little rough around the edges.

I'm not criticizing your work, but if the stuff moved faster around the screen, no one would notice that.

I like the idea and feel of the piece overall. Great work man.
