AE - how to change the render defaults?

Hi

I'm producing many FLV files from within AE.

Everytime I say Make Movie - I have to click the output settings to change from the default AVI format to FLV format. Once changed to FLV my last FLV settings are still remembered.

Question:Is there a way to just (for this project) change the default or get AE to remember so it is already set to my last used settings - ei. FLV.??

PS: Also - any way to make AE overwrite the output file if rerendered - rather than it keep creating _1 _2 _3 etc. would be really useful for this repetative project.

*Weird - I only typed repetative ONCE and checked on edit it is there ONCE but it shows in post TWICE - that is repetative
 
For me I save custom presets and then all I have to do is click on the little arrow and pick my named preset.

As for your second question, right click on a finished render with the name and settings you want and click on duplicate with filename. It will overwrite, but it will warn you and require confirmation.

Let me share what I found with you too - if you hold Control down when selecting the template that makes that template the default in future.
 
Don't use the 'Make Movie' command. Instead add your comps to the Render Queue and build presets for 'Render Settings' and 'Output Modules' for it using 'Templates' under the Edit menu.

Wow I don't even know how to make movie, I just use the render queue. Nice catch. :] My comments were geared towards that- the render queue- NewHPXuser.
