AE displays images too soft!!

Hello,

I've got a photoshop design that is a mixture of vector graphics with photo images. I imported
the psd into AE 9 (merged layers), and for some reason it looks soft! Resolution is full and display is at 100%,
so I don't see what the problem might be! Image looks really sharp in Photoshop, but in AE, it looks at least 5
to 10% softer! Scaling is at 100% and from there it zooms out to about 60%. I don't understand
what the problem might be? Do I need to change the bit depth or something? Or is the problem merely
a display issue that goes away once you render the avi?

thanks in advance,

Thanks editman,

Are you refering to the "continuously rasterize" symbol? That doesn't seem to be selectable for individual layers. Only 3 options are offered for individual layers: Motion Blur, Adjustment Layers and 3D layer
Also this is a psd graphic, not a vector art layer. I'm using AE CS3.

Continuous rasterize will only be enabled on vector objects, such as masks, text, and shapes. (but it is a great thing for those objects!)

Check to see if you composition is displaying at "full" resolution. That should be under your comp window. It may also say "Half", "third", or "quarter". If it says any of these, it's just displaying back at a lower reso to allow faster interaction.

If that is not your issue, I would definitely do a quick render of a few seconds to see if it's just display, and not actually softer in the final output. I don't think AE is always true even when it is at "full" resolution.
