There's A LOT of great AE talent on this board, so i thought this would be a fun challenge.

this link to my blog entry has a non-color corrected video clip of my own doing of a bodyguard's head exploding from an explosive round. I used AE, photoshop, digital assets from video copilot, and some of my own custom art.

this is the raw 24 p video footage i used. Download it, flex your talents.

Let's see what you guys got!! Can't wait to see the fun!!

well I tried, I'll post the incomplete grabs later.

Basically I created a basic 3d head model then camera matched the scene, then manually did a head track with the new 3d head.

Next I used camera projection to generate the real word face texture onto the 3d head.

Then I used texture baking to fix the texure to the head, I then used particles to fracture and create the guys head exploding into smaller chunks,

The plan was then to use fluid simulation to create the realsistic blood splatter/spray.

BUT...

The particles don't understand the baked texture so I've given up.
