AE Blending with Stitches

Ok, so I'm having some problems with blending - I've been experimenting trying to get the edges of the frames to blend in 3d space but the edges of the frame are apparent no matter how much feathering is added...

All the feathering seems to do is vignette each frame - which just adds black space inbetween, which is not what I want...

Any specific ideas? This is mostly a project to help me learn AE so if you can explain it to me - I'll try it, no matter how wierd the idea

Thanks

I don't follow exactly what you issue is. You explanation and clip are little to low-rez.

"Frame Blending" is a render setting and your clip does not appear to need 3d space?

Nice stuff. Fun with stop motion.
The problems wasn't entirely clear in the clip. Are you trying to make a 3D room from 3 or 4 shots? It appears you're butting the clips together.
If that's the case then you need them to overlap a bit and the create a feather of each side. It will go dark if it doesn't have anything to overlap with so moe them to over lap by 10-20 pixels minimum. You'll need to color and brightness balance to blend. Use the same focal length and same lighting to get a better match.
Try doing a precomp of the clips all together and then make another comp with that clip so you can do a camera move. Change default from linear to spline moves.

Ahh, thanks guys

However, when I'm overalpping them, even with the feathers - there's part of one that sort of sticks out because it "glows" in a way...

Is this just because it's in 3d space or what?

In both true 3d space as wellas just lining them up without using the 3d camera, the effect happens

One sec, Ill show ya...

I'm creating the mattes by double clicking on the media and then putting the yellow lines where I want it to be feathered, and then telling it to feather by (amount) by (amount) of pixels.

Thanks for the help guys

are you using any transfer modes? Also, it looks like your lighting in the scenes isn't going to match up very well as is (not that that is the cause of this though)

Ah, Kai -

This is a project mostly to motivate me to learn some AE stuff - what exactly are transfer modes? You mean like burn? Brighten? Darken? that stuff?

How and why should I use them here?

The lighting matches better than it used to (before correction), but yes, you are correct - we'll see how well we can get it to hold up

Thanks man

So your top layer has the mask, it's set to feather by a large amount? Make sure to expand it in the timeline to double check since that doesn't seem to be the case.
You should see the results clearly. Try moving the mask further from the edge of frame.

You might want to consider making a grad matte in Photoshop so you have specific control but the feather shoudl work if it's setup correctly.
